I am a recent graduate of the PhD program in the Department of English at the University of Toronto. My research spans the fields of Black Diasporic Literature, Feminist and Queer Theory, Motherhood Studies, and Popular Culture. My doctoral project, Liberation Through Care: Radical Black Mothering Practices in American Neo-Slave Narratives, argues that the neo-slave narrative as a literary form and the resources used in its development serve as a crucial intervention into slavery’s historiography that circumvents archival silences and omissions while also influencing a radical feminist praxis.
